Don’t be afraid. All the singles out there rejoice at the results of the single census population. And there were an astounding 34.8 million single people in the Philippines in 2015.
Compared to the 2010 report, it is 3.5 million higher with 44% of the total 10-year-old population over being single.
The population census, which is conducted every 10 years by the Philippine Statistics Authority ( PSA), collects marital status data for individuals 10 years of age and above.
While the number of single persons appears to have increased after more than a decade, married persons have shrunk from 45% over the period from 2000 to 2010, to 41%.
There are also 54.1% more single males than females. For every 100 females, the sex ratio of single persons is 118 males.
Single person highest sex ratio in 2015:
- Region VIII (Eastern Visayas)- 127.8
- Region XIII (Caraga)-127.7
- MIMAROPA Region -127
Lowest sex ratio among single persons was the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) at 103.
