KC Concepcion has been away from the showbiz industry following her last appearance on TV back in 2015 with Paulo Avelino.
The kapamilya actress revealed in an online interview with Tim Yap for his show “Tim Yap Live!” that she was diagnosed with a medical condition.
KC said she has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that affects a woman’s hormone levels.
“I am super grateful for work, but uh, number one, I want to be super open about this because it’s something I also want to talk about in the future. So I was diagnosed with PCOS and that caused me to gain so much weight,” KC said.
This medical condition of her is also the reason why after making the series Ikaw Lamang Book 2, she started refusing other projects offered to her.
According to an online health website, women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones.
This hormone imbalance causes them to skip menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to get pregnant.
Moreover, the signs and symptoms of PCOS could be severe if you are obese.
Thus, weight loss and early diagnosis and treatment will decrease chances of having long term complications like type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
“I always want to be at my best. I want to be physically fit and I want to look good. I want to get my body tight. When I look good, I feel good and that’s what you serve people on screen. It’s as simple as that,” KC said.
When asked what she has been doing to deal with her condition, KC said that she is currently being guided by her doctor who is from the States.
“My OBGYN is in the States and she’s been super helpful with it. She specializes in it and she’s amazing.”KC said.
And now that she is healthier and lost a lot of weight, she is now ready to work again in mainstream show business.
She furthered that to serve the people, she needs to look good and feel good as per report.
