Many of you probably already know by now that famous celebrities Kim Chiu, Matteo Guidicelli and Ellen Adarna have blood running through their veins as Cebuano. But do you know that many other television, movie, music stars and even international designers are descendants of Cebuano too?

KIM CHIU
Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu (born 19 April 1990), commonly known as Kim Chiu, is a Philippine Chinese actress, singer, and TV host. @chinitaprincess became famous after winning Pinoy Big Brother in the first edition. She starred first in the TV series, Sana Maulit Muli (2007) who won her GMMSF’s Most Promising Female Star of the Year.
Matteo Guidicelli
Gianmatteo Vittorio Fernan Guidicelli was born in Cebu City. Matteo was known as a racer, before entering the show business. Matteo is known as a triathlete, as well. He is one of three children of Italian-born Gianluca Guidicelli and Philippine-born Glenna Fernan. His grandfather is Marcelo Fernan, late senator and chief justice.
Ellen Adarna
Ellen Meriam Go Adarna (born 2 April 1988) became famous for her exercise videos but even before that, she was already known in the online world through her photos share via the (then) social networking site, Friendster.
Isabel Oli
Isabel Oli was born as Maria Olivia S. Daytia on 20 October 1981 in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. Known for Maging akin ka lamang (2008), Kaya kong abutin ang langit (2009), and Gagambino (2008) rule. As of May 16, 2015, she has been married to John Prats.
Isabel is the youngest of seven children of Filipino father of Chinese descent and a Filipina mother of Spanish descent.
Paul Jake Castillo
Paul Jake Castillo was born on December 22, 1984. He is an actor, known for Be Careful with My Heart (2012), No Other Woman (2011) and Maalaala mo kaya (1991). Paul Jake is the runner-up on the hit reality-series, Pinoy Big Brother.
Enrique Gil
Enrique was born in Cebu City on 30th March 1992. He is Enrique Amadeo Gil III’s second son, and Barbara Anne Bacay. He has the elder brother Enrique Javier (Javy) and the younger sister Diandra Frances (Andie). His parents had used to work as Philippine Airlines flight attendants.
He appeared in various films and television shows such as Mula Sa Puso, Budoy, Muling Buksan Ang Pusoand She’s the One, but he is best known for his role as Alexander “Xander” Grande III in the television series Forevermore in 2014–15, alongside Liza Soberano.
Richard Yap
Richard Edison Uy Yap (born May 18, 1967) is a Chinese Filipino actor, model, and businessman, best known for his role as “Papa Chen” in My Binondo Girl and as Richard “Sir Chief” Lim in television drama Be Careful With My Heart.
Born and raised in Cebu, before entering the show business Richard used to be a full-time businessman. He also runs two restaurants with some business partners named Wangfu and Luna J.
Monique Lhuillier
Monique Lhuillier (born in Cebu City, Philippines on September 15, 1971) is a Filipino-American fashion designer and creative director known for his bridal, ready-to-wear and lifestyle brand. Internationally recognized as one of the foremost designers in America, she launched her eponymous brand in 1996 and has since established fashion houses in Los Angeles, California, where she works and lives primarily.
Monique Lhuillier was born to Michel J. Lhuillier and Amparito Llamas and brought up in a house with one sister and two brothers in Cebu City. Her dad was born in Vietnam. He is a jeweler, a estate buyer, and a diplomat while her mother is an ex-model.
Shaina Magdayao
Shaina Garcia Magdayao (born 6 November 1989) is an actress, dancer, singer, and model from the Philippines. She is currently managed by ABS-CBN and is a member of Star Magic. Known as Kapamilya Gold Queen of ABS-CBN for her successful starring roles that aired on the afternoon block of Kapamilya Gold.
Shaina, whose parents come from Cebu, began her child actress career. She was known in the drama Marinella and Alyna for her roles as Rina. She is the singer’s youngest sister and actress Vina Morales.
Annabelle Rama – Gutierrez
Annabelle Rosales Rama (born 28 October 1952) is the wife of Eddie Gutiérrez, Philippine cinema matinee idol of the 1960s.
Renowned for being feisty and her thick Visayan accent, Annabelle Rama is the mother of Ruffa, Richard, and Raymond celebrities, and wife of Eddie Gutierrez, a former matinee idol. A member of Cebu’s famous Rama clan, Annabelle ran for Congress but lost in the 2013 elections.
She is among the top talent managers in the entertainment industry, and has recently been seen with her family in the reality show It Takes Gutz To Be A Gutierrez.
Kenneth Cobonpue
Kenneth Cobonpue is an industrial designer, known for its unique designs that integrate natural materials through innovative handmade production processes. After studying Industrial Design in New York, he began his design career which led to apprenticeships and further studies in Italy and Germany.
Works by Kenneth Cobonpue were featured at design shows in Paris and New York. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Kenneth has received several awards, including the Hong Kong Grand Prize at the Singapore International Design Competition and the Hong Kong Design for Asia Award. Famous personalities, such as Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, have also bought Kenneth’s pieces.
Janine Berdin
Patricia Janine Dusaran Berdin is not just a child actress but a singer too. Janine, a Cebuana actress and singer who won the Noontime TV show It’s Showtime as season 2 champion in Tawag ng Tanghalan. She’d joined Star Circle Quest Search for the Next Kiddie Superstars before that.
Janine started her career in December 2010 when she auditioned for ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest for the Next Kiddie Superstar, She was the lone Cebuana who made it into the top 10 semifinalists among more than 6,000 children who auditioned.
Janine has been handed over to Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent pool after the contest. She first appeared in three episodes of the Mutya (TV series) where she played as a Bully in school. Then later, in a Maalaala mo kaya (TV series) episode – Tungkod (2011).
Morissette Amon
Johanne Morissette Daug Amon (born 2 June 1996) is a Filipina singer and occasional actress, better known by her stage name, Morissette. She first gained prominence when she finished runner-up at the age of 14 on TV5’s Star Factor. Amon made their professional stage debut in Disney’s Camp Rock production of Repertory Philippines in 2012. She competed in ABS-CBN’s The Voice of the Philippines’ first season in 2013, where she became a part of Sarah Geronimo’s team.
Star Music recording artist Amon was born and raised in Cebu City in early 2014 and released her first album. A self-titled Morissette album, released in March 2015. She is now known as the “Phoenix of Asia”
In November 2015, Morissette was awarded her album, Morissette, as the New Female Recording Artist of the Year by the 7th PMPC Star Awards for Music. She bagged the M.O.R. Pinoy Music Awards for Female Artist of the Year in August 2016. On 13 August 2016 she had her first major solo concert, which was sold out, at the Music Museum.
