With a rising number of persons identified as positive for the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella has decided to extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Cebu City to 15 May 2020.

This is also based on the recommendations of health experts in the city as the number of cases of COVID-19 keeps rising due to the continued efforts of the city in the targeted mass testing of residents in the barangays where confirmed cases occur.

The Cebu City Government appeals to all to cooperate fully and religiously follow the city-mandated protocols and security measures as we continue to fight the invisible enemy.

The extension of the ECQ will be issued by the Executive Order at any time next week, Mayor Labella said.  He also noted that his team will continue to closely monitor the situation in the city and, should there be a significant decrease in cases, the ECQ will be immediately lifted

As of April 22, 2020, there are now a total of 341 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 21 recoveries and 8 deaths. There are 311 confirmed cases in Cebu City alone.
