US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has expanded its list of possible Covid-19 symptoms.

The original list consisted only of three symptoms; fever, cough and shortness of breath.

The 6 new symptoms that we need to watch out for are;
1. Chills
2. Repeated shaking with chills
3. Muscle pain
4. Headache
5. Sore throat
6. Loss of taste or smell

The CDC added the new 6 symptoms on April 18 after the organization of public health epidemiologists issued new recommendations.
The latter is responsible for defining which infectious diseases are tracked and report it to the former.

Symptoms accompany the disease can vary widely, doctors and researchers have reported.

While many people with Covid-19 primarily have acute respiratory distress, others don’t have fevers at all or that their fevers go up and down and are sometimes accompanied by chills.

Some people reported a strange loss of smell and taste, an effect that can also occur with other respiratory infections.

These symptoms generally appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.
Patients may be most infectious in the days before they began showing symptoms, studies shows.

The CDC recommends seeking medical attention immediately for trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, confusion or inability to arouse and bluish lips or face.

One of the reasons Covid-19 has been so hard to contain is because pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic people are likely spreading it without knowing it.

In order to stop the spread of the virus, everyone is advised to wear mask, avoid touching the face and frequent hand washing.
Wearing mask could help stop the transfer from the contagious people who don’t necessarily know they are carrying the virus.

The number of covid-19 cases in the Philippines now stands at 7,777.
The Department of Health confirmed 511 deaths and 932 recoveries.
