With a rising number of persons identified as positive for the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella has decided to extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Cebu City to 15 May 2020.

The law that gives President Rodrigo Duterte additional powers to solve the COVID-19 crisis also contains a provision that punishes those who create or distribute false information about the crisis with a two-month prison sentence or a fine of between ₱10,000 and ₱1,000,000.

Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella has reported a hundred and thirty-nine (139) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded today, April 22. This brings the town's tally to 312 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
