Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella has reported a hundred and thirty-nine (139) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded today, April 22. This brings the town’s tally to 312 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Labella said that the spike in the number of confirmed cases is a result of the mass testing done in Cebu City.
“Let us continue to stay safe and stay home,” Labella said in a Facebook post.
Breakdown of today’s 139 COVID-19 positive cases:
- Cebu City Jail – 123;
- Labangon – 9;
- Barangay Luz – 3;
- C. Padilla – 1;
- Kasambagan – 1;
- Inayawan – 1;
- CCHO – 1
“In Cebu City Jail, they will assign their new building with a capacity of 3,000 individuals as their Isolation Facility. Treatment and management of mild to moderate cases will be done by the medical personnel of the City Jail in close coordination with the City Health Office and DOH.
The new cases from Barangay Luz is a result of the mass testing we did in Sitio Cabantan. We will transfer these asymptomatic patients to Brgy Luz Night High School for isolation.
The case tagged from the Cebu City Health Office is not a City Gov’t employee. This is from a patient tested in one of our cluster clinics. The exact barangay from where the patient lives is still being verified,” Labella said in a Facebook post.
The official report that includes updated records for Central Visayas, including other cities in Cebu, has yet to be submitted by DOH-7 today. The entire Cebu has a total record of 198 positive cases with 21 recoveries and 7 deaths as of yesterday April 21.
