Motorcycle taxi operations in Central Visayas were temporarily suspended, effective yesterday, Monday, March 16, 2020.
Three accredited motorcycle hailing service apps operate in Metro Cebu. These are Angkas, Joyride and MoveIt.
Angkas issued a statement on Saturday, March 14, about the suspension of its operations due to the Covid-19 threat effective Sunday, March 15th.
This issue received different comments from the netizens on social media.
A twitter user posted an appreciation to motorcycle riders who are risking their lives to transport food, groceries ans other essential goods for us.
However, not everyone is happy with the social distancing policy.
Some Angkas drivers are sending random text messages to their old customers offering to do their grocery just to get a living.
Although the move will affect the livelihood of many drivers, please understand it is for the safety of the riders too and the government is strictly implementing social distancing.
