On Wednesday, the Blockbuster Queen Kathryn Bernardo finally broke her silence on the ABS-CBN shutdown issue through a short video posted on her official Instagram account.

Kathryn began her video with an explanation why it took her over a week to speak up.

She said she wanted to refrain from speaking about politics because she got really traumatized the first time she used her platform to talk about anything related to politics.

To recall, the actress got bashed in 2016 for supporting then presidential candidate Mar Roxas.

Doing it again is scary for her but she decided to do it again this time.

She also called on Filipinos to learn to stand up for what’s right and to use their voices to responsibly speak up.

Naging traumatic po ‘yung experience ko no’n,” she said.

Kathryn said that she is now breaking her silence because she feels that she has to do something for ABS-CBN even though it is not assured that she will be heard.

Kaya nandito ako, pinili kong magsalita kasi nag patong-patong na ‘yung mga dahilan,” she said.

Kathryn, who stars in the blockbuster film “Hello Love Goodbye,” said that she will use a line from the film so she can be better understood.

According to her, ABS-CBN’s shutdown means depriving many Filipinos of information source especially in the most crucial situation.

She ended her video urging the authorities to give attention to the voices of the 11 thousand employees of the media giant and to not make the inequality in the country worse.

Magtulungan tayo,” she added.

The day Kathryn released her video, the House of Representatives passed on 2nd reading a bill that would grant the network provisional license to operate.

Kathryn Bernardo is one of the greatest actresses in Philippine showbiz.
Her movie with GMA artist Alden Richard, “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, is the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
